A Bit About Me

Hi, I’m Rachel Metcalf. A strategist. A storyteller. A structure-builder for mission-driven people who are tired of holding it all together with duct tape and burnout.

I’ve spent over a decade inside schools and nonprofits, working behind the scenes in finance, operations, and systems most people avoid until they break. What I saw, again and again, was good people stuck in reactive mode, trying to fulfill their mission while navigating messy workflows, unclear expectations, and chronic overload.

So, I started writing. Then building. Then shaping a new framework. Voice. Vision. Value.
It’s not a service (yet). It’s a foundation for everything I’m creating: writing, toolkits, systems, and support for those doing the hard, important work of making organizations actually function.

If you’re here, you’re early. And I’m glad you are.

Work Experience

Nonprofit & Education (Over a Decade)

Corporate & Government (7+ Years)

I’ve worked in domestic and international nonprofit schools for over ten years supporting everything from tuition and enrollment operations to scholarship administration, purchasing oversight, internal audits, and regulatory compliance.

My experience also includes donation tracking and curation efforts, staff training, parent communications, event logistics, and cross-functional collaboration with leadership teams. I’ve worked on both the front lines and the backend; managing details most people never see, but that shape the entire experience for families, funders, and faculty alike.

In both corporate and government settings, I worked in regulated, high-stakes environments where operational accuracy, compliance, and client trust were non-negotiable.

My roles spanned financial services, mortgage operations, government benefits, and marketing, giving me hands-on experience with compliance documentation, fraud mitigation, account reconciliation, benefit distribution, and cross-team coordination.

From facilitating audit-ready processes to managing customer-facing operations and policy enforcement, I learned how structure supports accountability and how overlooked gaps create costly risks.

Finance (4+ Years)

I’ve worked inside high-regulation financial environments, ranging from consumer banking to hedge fund operations and mortgage servicing. Across these roles, I handled account reconciliation, regulatory compliance, client account management, foreclosure metrics, and operations tied to defaulted assets.

This work taught me how to operate under pressure, collaborate across departments, and maintain precision in systems that couldn’t afford error. I developed an instinct for spotting inconsistencies, tightening loose processes, and protecting both client trust and audit readiness.
